Liam Kinsella picked up a nasty injury against Newport and will, unfortunately, be out for the long-term. The Northern Irishman's absence does, at least, mean an end to his midfield pairing with Joss Labadie, which many consider too conservative, but of the two Kinsella would have been the likelier to progress from a technical perspective. Tall forward Conor Wilkinson is out with a torn hamstring, so George Miller has started in attack, and certainly took his chance against Mansfield. Creative maestro Rory Holden remains absent. Harvey Saunders, Paul Coutts and Hary Anderson could come into the XI for Nick Anderton, Glenn Whelan and Anthony Evans. Dribbler Sam Nicholson, meanwhile, is out for another month.
Walsall's underwhelming start to the campaign continued with a 2-1 loss at Newport last time out, but head coach Matthew Taylor is likely to be given a generous amount of time to build a side that can challenge for promotion. If results continue thus, the board may still be willing to consider this a transitional season, yet equally there does need to be convincing progress in terms of performances and this will not be easy with Liam Kinsella now out with a long-term injury. Bristol Rovers, meanwhile, are above the relegation zone only on goals scored after a 3-1 defeat to Leyton Orient last time out; it is difficult to see the Gas fulfilling their promotion ambitions this season, unless something changes quickly. 2:1
