They can put themselves in pole position for the Round of 16 with a win, but it wouldn't guarantee them a place. Canada despite recording the joint third most shots in matchday one of all the teams in the tournament with 22, though only three were on target, they were unable to find a way of scoring, as they lost 1-0 to Belgium in their opening group game, with Alphonso Davies missing a penalty earlier in the game. A loss here would mean they would go out of the World Cup.
