PSV Eindhoven strengthened this squad this summer with Luuk de Jong returning. Guus Til, Walter Benítez and Xavi Simons have joined him with Ki-Jana Hoever and Jarrad Branthwaite on loan from the Premier League. New head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy will be missing several players due to injury with Olivier Boscagli, Noni Madueke and Carlos Vinícius among them. Ahead of their Eredivisie return, FC Emmen have signed a number of free agents. The likes of Richairo Živković, Maikel Kieftenbeld and Michaël Heylen join the newcomers who are seeking to maintain their newfound status this season. Head coach Dick Lukkien, though, goes into this opening weekend missing Kyan van Dorp, Peet Bijen, Lucas Bernadou and Mart Lieder through injury.
