Before the win over Alaves, Betis beat Sevilla in a controversial Copa del Rey derby, with the game being continued a day later after Sevilla player Joan Jordan was hit by an object thrown from the stands. Those wins will be seen as vital for Manuel Pellegrini's men following three La Liga games without victory and a noticeable drop in confidence on the back of that run of results.
