Malky Mackay named three changes to his Staggies side, despite a previously unchanged XI claiming a 1-1 draw at Pittodrie against Aberdeen, before a 3-0 humbling at the hands of Celtic at Parkhead. Conor Randall lost his place at right-back, as he was replaced by Coventry City loanee Jack Burroughs. And fellow defender Alex Iacovitti was ill, meaning that Jack Baldwin started alongside Harry Clarke at centre-back. Midfielder Davide Cancola dropped to the bench, as Alex Samuel was handed a start on the flank. Blair Spittal accompanied him on the other, in support of Jordan White starting as that lone striker. Robbie Neilson made just one change in personnel as Hearts followed their 2-0 victory over Dundee United at Tannadice, being held at home by Hibs in a 0-0 stalemate in the first Edinburgh derby of the season. Stephen Kingsley missed the trip to Tannadice but returned, in the Jambos' first match after the international break, as part of the centre back trio. Ben Woodburn made his debut against United and kept his place to make his Tynecastle debut. Barrie McKay made his first appearance since joining the Jambos, in the derby. The former Swansea City winger joined the men in maroon after his deal with the Swans expired, and is pushing for his first Hearts start, which could arrive here.
