Stephen Glass made two changes after Aberdeen were held at home by Ross County in a 1-1 draw at Pittodrie prior to the international break, before succumbing to a 2-0 defeat away to Motherwell at Fir Park. Dean Campbell, a midfield player by trade, was handed his first start of the season at left-back in the match against the Staggies. However, he was replaced by Jack MacKenzie in the Dons defence for the trip to Lanarkshire. There was a Dons debut for Austin Samuels, on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, as part of the duo supporting Christian Ramirez in attack against County. But against the Well, Marley Watkins made his first start in his second spell with Aberdeen. Callum Davidson made four changes after St Johnstone settled for a share of the spoils against St Mirren in Paisley, before blowing their lead to lose 2-1 against reigning champions Rangers at McDiarmid Park at the weekend. Club captain Jason Kerr and midfield maestro Ali McCann have departed for Wigan Athletic and Preston North End, respectively, and were replaced by Millwall loanee Hayden Muller in defence and Ali Crawford being handed his debut in midfield. And in attack, Stevie May and Callum Hendry made way for Chris Kane and goalscorer Michael O'Halloran. Glenn Middleton was ineligible against his parent club, but could come back into the equation for the trip up north here.
