Aberdeen named two changes to the starting lineup that gave Celtic a scare in their 3-2 defeat at Pittodrie, as they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Motherwell 2-1 at Fir Park, a result that ultimately cost Stephen Glass his job. Celtic loanee Adam Montgomery was ineligible to play against his parent club, but replaced Calvin Ramsay as the Dons' shuffled the pack defensively. Declan Gallagher and David Bates were at centre-back, Ross McCrorie at right-back. In midfield, Dylan McGeouch dropped onto the substitutes bench, Funso Ojo taking his place in the side alongside Scott Brown. Lewis Ferguson joined Vicente Besuijen and Jonny Hayes in support of goalscorer Christian Ramirez. Saints were one of just two Premiership sides without a fixture at the weekend in the Scottish Cup. Despite a 0-0 draw with Dundee United, Callum Davidson made five changes to his Saints side as they lost to St Mirren 2-1 in Paisley. Tom Sang made his first start for Saints, after joining on loan from Cardiff City. Melker Hallberg was suspended following two yellow cards shown in the stalemate against United. In came Tony Gallacher, Murray Davidson, Cammy MacPherson and Glenn Middleton. James Brown, Jacob Butterfield and Stevie May dropped onto the bench but there was no place amongst the subs for Callum Booth.
