Port Vale are hoping the arrivals of defender Connor Hall, left-back Chris Hussey and striker Ryan Edmondson can push them on to make waves in an automatic promotion race that looks wide open this season. There are sides currently occupying a place in the top three, Tranmere and Northampton, who have not exactly looked miles above some of the teams nearer the bottom end like Barrow and Rochdale, so if Vale can put a run together they have every chance of joining Forest Green in the automatic promotion spots. Swindon Town, one place and two points above the Burslem outfit having played two games more, will feel the same, if they can strengthen a squad that looks a tad short on depth in key areas. 2:1
