2018's 3rd place team Belgium qualified for the World Cup as the group winners in qualifying, ahead of second place Wales, winning six of their eight games, while drawing the other two. This will be the 14th World Cup for the Red Devils, with 2018's bronze medal being their best finish at the tournament. They are ranked the second best men's international team in the World by FIFA Rankings heading into the tournament, behind only Brazil. Canada made it to their second ever World Cup by coming top of their CONCACAF group, though it was their superior goal difference to Mexico which saw them take top spot. In their only other appearance in a World Cup, back in 1986, they were unable to make it out of their group, losing all of their games. Canada do offer quality, but their inexperience will likely show against one of the top teams in the tournament, with Belgium the more likely team to get the win. 3:0
Romelu Lukaku has not played a competitive game since the end of October, only making five appearances across all competitions for Inter Milan this season and is likely to miss the opening two World Cup games for Belgium, owing to a thigh injury. Thomas Meunier has been missing for his club side Borussia Dortmund since mid-October owing to a fractured cheekbone, but came on in Friday's friendly defeat against Egypt, so should be alright to start here. Leandro Trossard missed that game on Friday due to a knock he received in training, but he should be fine for this game, though he is unlikely to start. Alphonso Davies has been carrying a hamstring injury, which has meant he hasn't played since near the start of November, though it looks as if he is fit enough to start here after returning to full training. Stephen Eustaquio and Milan Borjan were both carrying knocks in the lead up to this game, but have since taken part in full training, so will likely start in this game.
