Ronald Matarrita faces up to six months on the sidelines after undergoing ankle surgery for an injury he picked up during Costa Rica's win against Canada. Dominique Badji is also ruled out due to a leg injury, while Junior Moreno is a doubt. Swedish defender Anton Tinnerholm is available for selection once again following a ruptured Achilles tendon last year. Thiago Martins is ruled out however, but other than that NYCFC have a full roster to choose from.
NYCFC will go into this midweek clash as clear favourites, despite being the away side and having been beaten 2-1 by Philadelphia on the weekend. They still sit in second place in the Eastern Conference, simultaneously being one of the divisions highest scorers with one of the meanest defensive records. Cincinnati currently sit in seventh place, with the goals of Brandon Vazquez not enough to compensate for their poor defensive record. Confidence will be high, however, following their 1-0 victory over Orlando City, who the Orange and Blue's could overtake should they pick up a victory. 1:2
